HORROR MOVIES EVERY HORROR FAN NEEDS TO WATCH

HORROR MOVIES THAT EVERY HORROR FAN NEEDS TO WATCH!

Now, I may be exaggerating but these are movies that I love and I think they are underrated for how good they are!

THE CALL                                                                                                 This movie is seriously soo underrated! Same house, 20 years apart, Connected by a decades old phone, one end of the line there is serial killer, on the other line is a ordinary woman. Everything the serial killer does in the past affects the woman in the present. How awesome does that sound? The storyline, The dialogues, the cast everything was just perfecto! *chef's kiss*   Well what can I say? Asian horrors are the best, no doubt. To give a little more details about this movie(spoiler alert!), basically, So-yeon, while traveling to her hometown, loses her phone. She went to take care of her sick mother in a rural area. She finds an old cordless phone and receives a call from a young woman who says she's being tortured her mother. They begin to talk more and the name of the other woman is Young-sook. So-Yeon figures out that they both live in the same house but 20 years apart. So-Yeon  researches about the house more find out that Young-sook was killed by her adoptive mother who was a shaman, during an exorcism. She warns Young-sook about this and Young-sook, saves herself and kills her mother instead and becomes a serial killer. This masterpiece is a 10/10!

FORGOTTEN
Another Asian horror that is underrated!
So this movie is about Jin-Seok , a young man who moves into a new house with his mother, father and older brother, Yoo-Seok. One, rainy night, he witnesses his brother, Yoo-Seok, getting kidnapped and dragged into a black van. 19 days pass, and Yoo-Seok mysteriously returns home with no memory of his abduction. Over days, Jin-Seok starts noticing changes about his older brother including the limp he used to have but after the abduction seems to walk normally or has limp in the other leg now. Yoo-Seok also seems to go out late at night and one night, Jin-Seok follows him. (spoiler alerts! I am going talk about the plot of the movie so if u don't wanna know, then skip this part) Jin-Seok actually thinks he is in the 90's and he's 21 but actually he is in the 70's century and in fact, he is 41 years old. And the biggest plot of the movie is that the mother, the father and brother, the whole family thing was a lie! in fact, it was all staged. At the beginning of the movie, Jin-Seok felt that the house was familiar to him. He brushed it off, but when the reveal the plot we realize that the house was similar to him because he actually killed a mother and her daughter in that same house 20 years ago. He was supposed to kill only the mother but Jin-Seok accidentally killed the daughter as well. The man who was acting as Jin-Seok's elder brother reveals that he was actually the little boy Jin-Seok spared that day and told the toddler to count one to hundred ten times and starts to threaten Jin-Seok  about why he didn't kill him that day and who asked him to kill his mother  and sister. At the end we know that the father of the two kids was the one who asked Jin-Seok to kill his own wife. This is a 9/10.

SHUTTER [2008]
Shutter is also technically an Asian movie. There are two shutter movies. One made in the year 2004 which is the Thai movie. The  one I am going to talk about today was made in 2008 which is the Japanese remake of the original one made in 2004. The movie is about newly wedded couple, Ben and Jane. Ben, who is a photographer got a job in japan so the couple moves to Tokyo, Japan. On the way there, Jane accidentally hits a girl in the middle of a wilderness. Later they find white translucent spots in all of their photos. [spoiler alert] Ben suddenly has heavy shoulder pain and goes to the doctor and checks his weight. he weights 275 pounds, the weight of two people. When Jane asks Ben's secretary about the white blurs she says the blurs are spirits and takes Jane to her ex-boyfriend who is a spirit photographer. He says that these are spirits, manifestation of intense emotions. Jane convinces Ben to go with her to a Psychic. Ben claims the psychic is a fake and gets her out of there. Jane decides to visit the building in which there was a blur in one of Ben's photos. She went to the exact floor the blur was in and went in one of the rooms and suddenly a photo frame breaks. Jane looks at the photo and saw the girl she hit in that photo. She turns the photo around to see the photographer's name and saw Ben's name. She confronts Ben and learns that the girl is Megumi and she used to be Ben's girlfriend. More secrets unfold when Jane and Ben return to New York. This one is a 8.5/10

THE INVITATION
Looking for mystery and thriller and horror in one movie? well I got one for you!
The invitation might be perfect! I guessed the plot but the ending was amazing! Perfect example of dreams turning into nightmares! After her mother's death, Evie Jackson takes a DNA test to find out a long lost cousin named Oliver Alexander. The cousin invites her to an English  wedding. But when she gets there she discovers a twisted family secret that may risk her life- as a human. [spoiler alert] After reaching the wedding, Evie meets Walter De Ville and falls in love with him. The family host a rehearsal dinner, in which Evie was eager to meet the bride and groom, but Walter introduced himself and Evie as the bride and groom. out of the blue, a butler slices a maid's throat and pours her blood into a bowl. It is revealed that the De Ville family are vampires. We are later told that the Evie's ancestors, the Alexander family are one of the three families who have been offering one of their women to the De Ville family for centuries. Evie is knocked out and locked into a coffin.  Later, when she wakes up, She is in a bridal gown and walking down the isle to marry Walter but it doesn't end there. Its a 8/10.

THE DOLL 1 / THE DOLL 2 / SABRINA

The very first of the doll series. Another Asian horror movie.
Just the typical possessed doll movie we all love but has some
extra elements that makes the movie good. All known cliches
are present. If you're new to Indonesian movies, the doll
franchise is a good place to start. It has its fair share of flaws
and cliches. Its like Indonesia meets Annabelle. A newly wed
couple, the husband brings home a haunted doll to his wife who
makes dolls and they all lived unhappily ever after. The End. This
 movie is overall a 7/10.

The second of the doll films. This not the exact typical
possessed doll film you would expect. of course it doesn't
tick all the boxes but that doesn't make it any less of a
good movie. A good sequel to the first film as well.
Maira and Aldo are living happily with Kayla. In a tragic
accident, Kayla died. Maira goes into depression. Aldo
drowns himself in work. A few months passed. On the day of
Kayla's birthday, Maira feels as if her daughter is still around.
The toilet is not flushed, The TV turning on by itself, sound of
doors opening and closing. And even though nobody touched
it, it is often in different places. This one is a 7/10.

The third of the doll films. This is quite good requel to
the second film. In this movie, Maira and Aiden adopts
Vanya, who recently lost her mother. Aiden bought the
rights to a very trending doll, Sabrina and from its release,
all the kids love it . Vanya  misses her mom, So she starts
playing Charlie Charlie to communicate with her mom. She
also starts using ghost/spirit detecting apps to see if her mom
is with her or not. But Vanya forgets to say gooddbye to Charlie
and pray, only if we pray the spirits can be in peace and return t
o heaven correctly. What do you think will happen to this family?
 This movie is another 7/10.

LIVID [LIVIDE]
Livid [ French : Livide] is a French movie. Livid is a mystery/horror/thriller. Do you think robbing the house of a supernatural being is a good idea? These three idiots think it is a good idea. Lucy, Ben and William break into a old woman's house on halloween night. But soon it turns into a horrific nightmare. [Spoiler alert] Lucy, who just started practical training as an at-home nurse. She is trained by an older nurse, Mrs. Catherine Wilson. One of their patients live in a mansion. Lucy enters the mansion to be greeted by many stuffed animals in the room. She find Mrs. Wilson near a patient's bed. Mrs. Wilson explains that the patient's name was Mrs. Deborah Jessel and she used to be a well known ballet teacher but she is now in a coma. A rumor says that in Mrs. Jessel 's house, there are very valuable treasures hidden somewhere in the house. Lucy tells her boyfriend William about this. Lucy, William and his brother decide to break in and hunt for the treasure on halloween night. Through a window, they enter a basement in the house. They find a locked door. Lucy guesses that the key that was hanging around Mrs. Jessel was the kay to this door. The open the door and find a white cloth that seemed to be covering a mannequin. Lucy thinks that this may be Mrs. Jessel's mute daughter, Anna who is still in a ballerina dress. They twist the key on the pedestal on which the "mannequin" is standing on. Suddenly the the corpse started to dance like a ballerina in a music box. The biggest plot of the movie is that the family turns out to be vampires. There is even a scene where Anna drinks the blood of a ballerina who came for ballet class. The plot was quite expected but it was a good movie so 7/10.

SCREAM

The most perfect movie franchise doesn't exist- How can I even describe this masterpiece? All the movies are GEMs! My personal favourite is the 2nd and 5th movies but I love all of them. If you're looking for thriller/horror/psycho killer kinda movies this franchise  is perfect for you! Starring Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox and David Arquette who are the main characters in Scream 1,2,3 and 4. But Courtney Cox was the only actor that appeared in all the Scream movies. In the 5th movie, new characters were introduced who sadly won't be in the upcoming Scream 7. The new characters  who were introduced in Scream 5 were Jenna Ortega as Tara Carpenter and Mellissa Barrera as Sam Carpenter. So basically in the first 4 Scream movies, the main character, Sidney Prescott is targeted by murderers who wear a black mask [ look at the poster on the left.] and called as "Ghost face". However, Sidney has Dewey Riley, a police and Gale Weathers, who is a reporter to help her escape from Ghost Face. From the 5th film, the focus shifts from Sidney, Gale and Dewey to Sam and Tara. This franchise is a 10/10! Definitely recommend.
